Qambathi Mountain Lodge is situated in the Southern Drakensberg, Kamberg Mountain region, just 30km from the KwaZulu Natal town of Rosetta. The quaint setting is enhanced by the corrugated iron roof, stone walling, origon pine floors and low wooden ceilings of this typical Natal farmhouse.
The region is known for its lovely walking trails, trout fishing, horse riding and the nearby Bushmen Rock Art Centre. The Kamerg and Qambathi Reserves are stocked with plains game and the much loved Midlands Meander takes you to art gallaries and country craft and coffee shops nearby. You can laze beside the pool, disappear with a picnic basket and enjoy sundowners on the deck. Be sure to round the days off with stories at the boma fire, coupled with incredible star gazing.
The 6 rooms and suites are all fitted with under floor heating, private safes and tea and coffee making facilities. The twin or king beds are set on raw wooden step-up bases with matching headboards, draped with lavish white duvets and fluffy scatter carpets warm the screeded floors. The en-suite bathrooms offer hair dryers and separate baths and showers. The standard rooms are in the main building and some of the suites are free standing units, set apart, with private covered decks and hanging chairs with views of the mountain.
There is a quiet library and a well stocked wine cellar near the indoor dining area and the cosy Chill Lounge is furnished with deep sofa's in soft cream cottons. These homely guest areas open out to a wide wooden veranda, where loungers and hanging chairs lul you into a deep appreciation of the surrounding garden and rolling mountains.
