Jacks Camp is situated on the edge of the Makgadikgadi Pans in the
midst of Botswana's Kalahari Desert. The camp is a traditional East
African 1940's style safari camp erected in a harsh and stark
environment, however, the palm grove creates an oasis, civilized by the
pool pavilion, tea tent and a private museum established by Jack
Bousfield himself.
The 10 roomy tents are set on wooden platforms and styled with classic Persian rugs and old dark woods. The twin or king beds don cool cotton sheets and the en-suite bathrooms feature indoor and outdoor showers. All the tents open out to private verandahs with views of the rugged wilderness.
Many of the Field Guides combine research with guiding, teaming up with Bushmen to teach of the meerkats and the elusive brown hyena on morning walks and game drives. Venture far into the centre of the Makgadikgadi on 4wd quad bikes, to explore remote archaeological sites and fossil beds of extinct giant zebra and hippo. The immensity of the Pans are overwhelming, this being one of the world's largest super-lakes, which dried up thousands of years ago as a result of the continued shifting of the earth's crust.
Your stay at Jack's Camp includes all meals, local drinks and activities.
