Baines' Camp is located on a private concession, which borders the Moremi Game Reserve in Botswana's famous Okavango Delta. This intimate camp was named after the 19th century explorer, Sir Thomas Baines, it is tucked within a grove of trees and is surrounded by papyrus beds and the permanent water of the Boro River and a lagoon, which attracts the most spectacular wildlife activity. A unique feature of this camp is that it has been built using commercially grown wood and recycled tin cans collected by the local community in Maun. The main dining and sitting room is surrounded by a wide wooden deck, which is an ideal vantage point from which to view the varied wildlife.
The 5 tented suites are constructed on elevated platforms and set in the tree line. All the suites have traditional safari ceiling fans, personal safes, mini bars and en-suite bathrooms, which are actually outdoors. The luxury four poster beds are swathed in mosquito netting and can be wheeled out onto the wide private wooden deck for a night under the stars, overlooking the active waters.
Experience this wild wonderland on game drives, walking safaris, mokoro excursions and boat safaris. Be sure to take part in the elephant interaction which allows you to walk in the gigantic and silent footsteps of these gentle giants.
