Victoria Falls Safari Lodge is located just four kilometers from the thundering Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. The main building is set high on a natural plateau, overlooking the Zambezi National Park, an active floodlit waterhole and the "Elephant Highway" in the distance. The lounge, bar and dining areas are on three levels, with wooden wall paneling, flooring and chunky beams supporting the thatch, creating a true Safari Lodge feel.
72 standard and deluxe rooms and suites are spread out along the plateau, overlooking either the National Park, or the active waterhole. The décor makes use of natural fabrics and sections of walls in deep colours, in keeping with the African theme. All rooms have air conditioning and ceiling fans, safes, direct dial telephones and coffee and tea stations. The en-suite bathrooms offer hairdryers, luxury baths and separate showers with massaging jets. The twin or king beds are draped with mosquito nets and the glass doors have wooden concertina shutters opening out to the private balconies.
Days are quickly filled with the many activities on offer in and around Victoria Falls. Be sure to do a guided walk down to the hide for close encounters with the big game as they frequent the waterhole and enjoy spectacular African sunsets from the pool side, with its natural rock and wood surrounds.
The MaKuwa-Kuwa a la carte restaurant serves breakfasts with views and the Buffalo Bar is a social spot for pre and post dinner drinks. The ever popular Boma Restaurant and Bar is a short walk away from the main hotel, and is a highly recommended African culinary and cultural experience.
