The Blue Train in South Africa has become a symbol of luxury, sophistication and technological progress. Constructed primarily in South Africa, this luxury train incorporates the latest railway technology from Britain and Germany. Combined with The Blue Train's reputation for comfort and excellent service, the cuisine, Irish linen, crystal and silverware enhance the pleasure of luxury train travel in the heart of some of the world's most rugged and spectacular scenery. The Blue Train luxury train tours are unforgettable and an experience not to be missed.
The Blue Train has been synonymous with luxury hospitality
since 1946, offering journeys into a world of grace and elegance,
enjoyed by Kings and Presidents. There are two train sets, one carrying
74 guests and the other accommodating 82 guests. Fine cuisine,
complemented by the best South African wines, is served with the
ever-changing scenery flashing past the windows. The welcoming Lounge
Car has large windows and is near the relaxed Club Car, an ideal social
meeting point for aperitifs or after-dinner coffees and cognacs.
The suites offer the finest bed linens, marble tiles and gold fittings
in the bathrooms. The deluxe suite offers a choice between twin bed
with shower or double beds with bath, while the more spacious luxury
suites offer twin or double beds with long, deep baths. Each suite is
equipped with individually controlled air-conditioning, under-floor
heating and a private entertainment centre with a choice of movie
channels and radio stations. The luxury suite also includes a selection
of CD’s and DVD’s.
The pre-departure lounges in Pretoria and
Cape Town are warm and professional, a fitting introduction to the
scheduled departures which take place between Pretoria and Cape Town,
Pretoria and Durban and also between Pretoria and the Bakubung Game
Lodge in the Pilanesberg.
