Savanna Private Game Reserve, Mpumalanga, Kruger and the Northern Province

There are 7 suites with "Out of Africa" canvas roofs, and then the thatched Savanna Suite which is ideal for families. It has two en-suite bedrooms on either side of a spacious lounge and large covered patio. The free-standing suites are privately set amongst indigenous bush and trees - they are beautifully appointed in a blend of classic hand crafted colonial furnishings, with fine linen and striking artworks. The en-suite bathrooms boast double hand wash basins, double showers, Victorian ball and claw baths and quality amenities. Double doors and large windows open the rooms out to private shaded patios, with lazy chairs overlooking the lush gardens and the pristine bush beyond.

The luxurious guest facilities include an unusual viewing loft above the lounge, which forms a pleasant nook for a quiet game of chess, with an adjoining library area – all with a bird's eye view of the waterhole. At ground level, is the social bar and a comfy lounge with deep suede couches set beside the stone-clad fireplace. This is open to the dining area, where a long table and high back chairs encourage you to savor your meal along with good wines. All these spaces open out to a spacious patio, where there is more outdoor seating, also with views of the floodlit waterhole.

Relax with cocktails beside the swimming pool, or book an invigorating massage treatment. Enjoy frequent sightings of the "Big Five" on game drives in the comfort of open vehicles, with professional trackers and rangers. From here it is very easy to hop onto a tour of the scenic Panorama Route, visit an authentic African village and even go to a nearby elephant sanctuary, where you get to feed and ride these gentle giants. Golf can also be arranged at Skukuza or the magnificent Leopard Creek course.
