Altes Landhaus Country Lodge is cradled in the fertile Schoemanshoek Valley near Oudtshoorn. This stately Cape Dutch homestead served as a rectory to the local church in the 1950's and in 1994 the farm was purchased and lovingly restored revealing its oregon pine floorboards and high-beamed ceilings, a fitting tribute to colonial country living. The lounge is adorned with antique furnishings and tasteful Victorian décor and is warmed by two crackling fireplaces.
Relax beside the solar-heated salt water swimming pool in the tranquil gardens, tour the working ostrich farm, hone your golf skills on the short pitch-and-putt hole and the practice green or explore the spectacular Swartberg and Meiringspoort passes and the nearby world-famous Cango Caves.
The 7 Suites and 1 Double Room are all luxuriously appointed in rich colours and soft textures combined with regal embroidery. All rooms are air-conditioned, with televisions, telephones, ceiling fans and safes, they have en-suite bathrooms, comfortable sitting rooms and private patios.
Generous country breakfasts and a la carte dinners are complimented with fine wines and served in the cosy dining room or on the wide open patio with its huge outside fireplace.
