
Karoo Lodge is situated on the Samara Private Game Reserve, south of the Sneeuberg mountain range in the malaria-free Eastern Cape, directly inland from Port Elizabeth. Surrounded by a natural amphitheatre of mountains and set on 28 000 hectares of lush, indigenous wilderness, this gracious homestead, with its traditional corrugated iron roof has a cosy, old world styled lounge and dining room with sash windows and double doors opening onto a wide verandah. Outdoor dining takes place in the boma or on picnics overlooking the plains. View a diverse variety of wildlife on game drives and guided bush walks, discover the fossil sites and Bushman paintings, or indulge in spa treatments in the privacy of the suites.
There are 3 Lodge Suites in the main building and then 3 Karoo Suites, which are individually set within the grounds, all furnished in luxurious colonial style with old African influences. The spacious en-suite bathrooms have heated towel rails and separate baths and showers and the twin or king beds have the softest quality linens, all the suites open out to verandahs or patios.
