Phantom Forest Eco Reserve is situated on the north western side of the Knysna Lagoon, just a short drive from the town itself. Set on the banks of the Knysna River, this 137 hectare private Reserve offers a unique bio-diversity of Afromontane forest, Cape coastal fynbos and estuarine wetland. Only alien vegetation has been removed from the forest for use in the construction of the lodges floors, furniture, roofs and boardwalks. The elevated lounge, known as the Eyrie, is a glass-fronted, wooden lounge with a central fireplace and uninterrupted views over the Knysna Lagoon. Also sharing these views, is The Chutzpah, a sparkling Moroccan-style dining and leisure space, complete with low lanterns, colourful cushions and carved wood furnishings. Unrushed fire-lit dinners and African culture are shared in the open boma, with wooden flooring surrounding the large camp fire. Treat yourself to a pampering session at the body boma, or a gentle workout at the mini gym, followed by a sauna or a most unusual "Bubble Barrel". Take the time to relax at the freshwater nature pool, which is set within the reeds, overlooking the river and the lagoon.
