LEGAL REQUIREMENTS:

Having your wedding in Barbados is now easier than ever. Just a few requirements to be met before you say “I do”.

  • Application for a marriage license must be made by both parties in person, at the office of the Ministry of Home Affairs Cheapside, Bridgetown, Barbados.  
  • Applicants must be 18 years or over.
  • Valid passports or the original or certified copies of the applicants' birth certificates and picture identification must be presented.
  • If either party was married previously and widowed, a notarized copy of the marriage certificate and death certificate in respect of the deceased spouse will be required.
  • If either party was divorced, an original copy of the Decree Absolute and NOT the Decree Nisi. If the Decree Absolute is in a language other than English, it must be accompanied by a certified translation.
