

Side, is an ancient settlement center located at about 7 km. away from Manavgat. It is founded during 1405 A. D. At the end of 215 A. D., Side city improved under the supervision of the Kingdom of Syria and made it into a science and cultural center. Then it is passed on to the Byzantium sovereignty after the reign of the Roman Empire during 78 B. C. Side also serves as a Bishop center during the course of 5th and 6th centuries. "Nymphaeum", Anatolia's biggest historical fountain, could also be found here. You can also pass the Agora, which is the bazaar place of the city, when you have reached the monumental structure after the theater that passes through a street. You can also see a Gymnasium that is surrounded by porticos on the agora's south side. The importance of the theater in the city of Side is the construction of arched places rather than a slope that the other roman theaters used.
