Located on the island of Vabbinfaru, the Banyan Tree is both secluded and accessible at the same time. Vabbinfaru is a small, roughly circular island with excellent beaches and close access to the surrounding reef. The resort is notable for its work with marine conservation issues and is home to a Marine Biology laboratory. Guests are able to participate with the staff in monitoring the many programmes with which it is involved. Asian influences are apparent in the seashell-shaped, conical thatched-roofed villas, which border and overlook the islands white-sand beaches.

 

Please Note - The Maldivian Government announced that the current GST will be revised to 6% as of 01 January 2012. This would be revised to 10% as of 01 January 2013 and will be applied accordingly to all new bookings involving stays from 01 January 2012 onwards. The new GST will  apply to all room rates, food and beverage, spa, transfer, diving, water sports, excursions and any other services provided by a resort or ocean-going vessel operating within Maldivian Waters. GST will be not be charged on service charge or bed tax.
