Marakesh is arguably the most best known city in Morocco. With over 800 years of history the city is experiencing a new wave of modern-day visitors ever eager to explore and ingest it's exotic, old-world charm. The setting is perfect, standing in the shadow of the nearby Atlas Mountains, a popular and easily accesible destination in themselves. French influence is clearly visible in the new town Gueliz and Hivernage districts, the centre for the city's nightlife. The walled Medina remains relatively unchanged, with an 'Indiana Jones' appeal, dusty, narrow streets and endless alleyways, lined with trader stalls and small shops and the much photographed market place, Djemma el Fna, gateway to the city's famous souks. Nowhere else within such close proximity to Europe will you find such a complete contrast in culture and experience to that which you will find in Marrakesh.
